Harvest of the Heart Community Garden
2016 was a great year for our community garden! Together, we grew over 1300 pounds of produce for the Larimer County Food Bank and FoCo Cafe. We couldn’t have done this without volunteers who provided over 175 hours to make our garden a huge success. One volunteer, our neighbor, Jake Longshore, deserves extra special thanks for a garden
shed he built for his Eagle Scout project. Jake–the shed is a wonderful addition and we are grateful for it!
This year, we plan to grow exclusively for FoCo Cafe. Read their amazing story here. We plan to plant and harvest food specific to their menu items. Last week, they served their 50,000th meal!
To make this happen, we need YOUR help:
1. Sign up to work a week in the garden. Tasks range from weeding, planting, harvesting, etc. No experience needed; we will show you what to do. Contact Erica Wharton or sign up in the
church lobby. This is perfect for families, youth groups, sports teams, etc.!
2. Choose a “leaf” from the giving in the church lobby. We are in desperate need of seeds, used tools, etc. Supplies are due the week of March 19.
3. Donate produce from your home garden. Send Erica an email to make arrangements.
In addition to our community plots, we have individuals plots available for a donation as well: $40 for a 5’x20′ plot; $20 for a 5’x10′ plot. Sign up now before these plots fill up.
