Central Rocky Mountain Region Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Fall Feast
September 3-5, 2021
West Valley City, UT
We are less than two months away from the upcoming 2021 Fall Feast at Granger Community Christian Church, West Valley, Utah! We are excited, as we plan to inspire, equip and worship God together as we feast on Isaiah 43:19 in search of “God’s New Thing” for us as Jesus’ beloved church.
Fall Feast serves as the Central Rocky Mountain Region’s regional assembly. After being deferred from 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are looking forward to gathering with our siblings in Christ in West Valley City, UT, over Labor Day weekend. All are welcome to attend the weekend full of worship, workshops, activities, and meals–including a luau! All are welcome during business sessions as well, and Heart of the Rockies is eligible to send 3 voting delegates (not including ordained clergy with standing in our region).
Interested in attending? Let us know in the church office (223-1230 or email@example.com). We’ll provide more information about registration discounts, travel plans, and hotel accommodations. Click here for the registration form, which is due to the church office by Sunday, August 8.
Living Well, Dying Well with Rev. Annie Grogan
As we explore “God’s New Thing” we will discuss what it looks like to make our way in the wilderness of living and dying. Chaplain Annie will facilitate exploration around the idea that how we lead our lives impacts the ways we respond to the difficulties and challenges we are faced with. We will be discussing what it means and looks like to live well and how this impacts our ability to die well.
Making One Million New Disciples: Exploring Strategies for Multiplication with Rev. Terrell L McTyer (Two Sessions)
We celebrate the formation of 1000 New Church, 1000 Different Ways inspired by the 2020 Vision. Now what? New Church Ministry challenges us to make one million new disciples in a decade. What will it take to accomplish this mission? How can you and your congregation participate? The Great Commission is a mandate, not a suggestion. Its time to get going! Learn how to motivate every member of your collective to be more externally focused and welcome new believers.
Walking Through Discernment and Renewal with Rev. Jonathan Hall
During this session, Jonathan Hall, Senior Pastor at FCC, Colorado Springs, CO, and chair of the Transformation Committee in the CRMR, will share his journey of walking with his previous and current churches through a time of discernment and renewal. It is scary, exciting, and necessary work at this time for many of our congregations. Ultimately, our role as church is to perceive where God may be inviting us to participate with God in God’s unfolding, enfolding mission. This session will not be a “this is how you do it like me” lecture. Our time will include Bible study, prayer, story and process sharing, looking in each of our unique mirrors (contexts), and community discussion.
The End of the Church as You Knew it with Rev. Mark Pumphrey
The primary source material will come from John Dorhauer’s book “Beyond Resistance”. The Institutional Church meets the Post-modern world. Rev. Pumphrey will share how Greeley FCC is reimagining itself while living day to day moving from a hierarchical model to a matrix
Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation Workshop with the CRMR Reconciliation Ministries (This workshop is two sessions back to back)
How do we as the Church and as a region live into our values? This workshop is an opportunity for members of the region to interact with the work that the Reconciliation Ministries is doing in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. Help yourself and your church prepare for the work of anti-racism by attending this two-session workshop.
Who Are the Shepherds? Congregational Leadership in Recognizing and Encouraging New Ministers with Rev. Tracy D. Morgan
This workshop will help congregations to understand that they are an important part of helping others find their ministries and leading some to seek commissioning or ordination, describe the processes of commissioning and ordination, and present resources for congregations sponsoring those seeking ordination.
Suicide Prevention Training with QPR Suicide Prevention
The QPR mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training. The signs of crisis are all around us. We believe that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know. Attend this workshop to learn the Question, Persuade, Refer method of suicide prevention.
Multicultural Church Roundtable with NAPAD, Obra Hispana, and Convocation
Often God’s new thing exists among us and is waiting to be revealed. Attend this roundtable to discuss how the church can live into the vision of being multicultural as we forge our way forward to God’s New Thing.
Art Contemplation with Aneesah Ettress
Art helps us navigate the world, express our emotions, and understand in glimpses the thoughts and feelings of others. In this workshop session, we will contemplate an art piece, looking to develop an ethic of self-care and connection to the divine by appreciating the beauty and depth of a work of art.
