Heart of the Rockies Christian Church in Fort Collins, CO

Outreach | Advent Outreach

Wondering how to put your faith into action this Advent season? In the spirit of “What Can’t Wait,” our Outreach Team is partnering with two organizations that will make a difference right now in our community and beyond:

Clothe the People is committed to mutual aid–a community solidarity approach to develop longterm inter-community relationships, which allows us to be more flexible and adaptable to the needs of those who we are serving. Ehret Nottingham serves with this group weekly and items most needed right now are new socks and gloves; new or used coats and sweatshirts. The items we receive will be distributed at one of 4 locations: outside the Murphy Center, the Mennonite Fellowship, Buckingham Park, and Catholic Charities.

Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains have begun welcoming Afghan refugees who worked for the US government to Colorado and New Mexico. LFSRM works closely with Lutheran Refugee and Immigration Service (LIRS), essential city partners and other community organizations and congregations to begin helping these important people resettle into our communities. We are receiving gift cards to places like Walmart, Target, and Safeway (the latter available for purchase in the church lobby in December) to support these families as they settle into their new homes.

You can bring these requested items with you to worship on Sunday mornings or during the week (M-F, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.) or arrange a pick up or drop off time with Sue Anderson.
