Faith Family Hospitality

Faith Family Hospitality (part of the Family Housing Network) is a long-running, highly successful program where up to four homeless families stay in a church for 1 or 2 weeks while they wait for permanent housing. Heart of the Rockies has been part of this program for many years and would like to continue to grow our support for this important cause. Our partner in this work is Plymouth Congregational Church (UCC). In collaboration with Plymouth, Heart of the Rockies folks supply meals, set up private room for each family, and provide a safe and secure setting. The FFH families move to another church or move into permanent housing following their stay. As a church volunteer, you can sign up for one job or many during our two weeks of hosting.

Heart of the Rockies will be supporting Plymouth Congregational Church as we host families there April 27 – May 11. Our team leader, Lynnette Thayer, described why she continues to work and support FFH. "A while back a family of 4 stayed in the FFH program after losing their home (after Dad lost his job). Just before they found permanent housing again, Mom said to me 'FFH is so wonderful! It allowed us to save up money, catch our breath and chart a new way forward. AND no one judged us!'  heir teen daughter added 'It helped me renew my faith in people! There are plenty of good, kind people out there! I know that now.' Because of FFH and its volunteers, a family was able to regroup and move forward! A teenager was able to find some positivity in the world!"  It takes a small village to do this work two times per year.
