Heart of the Rockies Christian Church in Fort Collins, CO

Outreach | Family Housing Network

Family Housing Network (FHN) is an ever-growing non-profit that supports homeless families in Fort Collins.

Faith Family Hospitality is the in-church portion of FHN.

Faith Family Hospitality (FFH) is the program that houses up to 4 families a week in the churches in Fort Collins. The families live in one church for a week, then move to another local church for a week, then another church for a week, etc. Heart of the Rockies supports and works with Plymouth Congregational Church as the families stay at Plymouth one week at a time for a total of 4 weeks during each year. While families stay at Plymouth, we provide breakfast, lunch and snack supplies, a healthy dinner every evening, showers, and a safe cozy place to sleep each night. While they are staying in churches, each family is working to get back on their feet and live independently.

Would you like to be a part of that vital, life-changing ministry? We would like you to join us. There are a variety of basic jobs for FFH:

Set Up Crew sets up for our guests at Plymouth on the Sunday afternoon before the families move in.

Dinner Preparers make dinner at their own houses and bring it to Plymouth between 5:30 and 6:00 that evening. Pick up leftover food and dishes later.

Evening Hosts are at Plymouth between 5:00 and 8:00 that evening, serving dinner to and interacting with guests, cleaning up from dinner.

(EH serve the dinner that the dinner preparers bring.)

Child Care Provider babysits the children at Plymouth while their parents are in a meeting on site. Monday or Tuesday evening for an hour at 7:00pm.

Overnight Hosts are at Plymouth from 8:00pm till 7:15 or so the next morning. They lock up and sleep there, and are available if anything comes up.

Tear Down/Reset Crew cleans up from FFH and gets Plymouth ready for its normal activities. This happens early Sunday morning at the end of our FFH week.

Trailer Transport person uses their large truck to take the trailer from Plymouth to the next FFH church on Sunday morning at the end of our week.

Donating money is another way you can participate in FFH. Money is needed for the basics of life: paper towels, cleaning supplies, toiletries, paper plates, breakfast/lunch/snack supplies . . . You can give money to Lynnette Thayer and she will get it to the correct person.

Donating small toiletries is yet another way to participate in FFH. Small shampoos, body soaps, lotions (like you get free at a hotel) are distributed regularly to our guests at Plymouth. You can give those to Lynnette Thayer and she will get them to the correct place.

There is a Sign Up Genius for the regular jobs listed above. Talk to Lynnette Thayer and she will get you set up with that.

Many hands make light work. It’s a team effort every time to welcome, host and support our guests.

I love serving as part of the Plymouth/Heart of the Rockies FFH Team! The ministry is so important and the team work feels really good and is fun!
